Terms and Conditions
Booking
All bookings made will receive a Booking Confirmation with the Confirmation being a binding contract between Walking the Wrecks and the client(s). Upon confirmation of a booking the client will receive a medical declaration and emergency contact form which must be completed by the client. For group bookings the lead client will be asked to supply forms for all members of their group.
Under 18s
Minors are permitted with prior arrangement to take part in our events, they must be accompanied by a parent/guardian on the walk. The parent/guardian is responsible for their supervision, safety and behaviour at all times.
Payment
Full payment will be required upon receipt of an invoice sent at the time of a booking confirmation.
Cancellation/Alteration
All our walks are subject to minimum participant numbers, for walks in the Peak District and Yorkshire Dales this is 2 participants, Lake District and North Wales 3 participants are required and for any other regions 4 participants will be required.
Should a walk not reach its required minimum number of participants you will be offered either a full refund or alternative date.
By the Client
Up to 14 days prior to the walk a full refund, or alternative date, will be offered.
Between 14 days and 48 hours prior to the walk a 75% refund, or alternative date, will be offered.
No refund will be offered for cancellation with less than 48 hours notice.
By Walking the Wrecks
In the event that a walk has to be cancelled for any reason, other than insufficient numbers, by us a full refund and alternative date will be offered.
Health, Safety and Fitness
As a client your safety is of the utmost importance however all outdoor activities carry some degree of risk. Where absolutely possible those risks which are present will be avoided or mitigated against, it is vital that clients obey any instructions given in relation to their safety. Hill walking is a physically demanding activity and before booking on to an event it is important that you are physically fit and well enough to complete the planned walk.
Weather
Extremes of weather may cause cancellation or alteration to planned events. In the event of a cancellation due to weather a full refund or transfer to an event on a different date will be offered. Where weather does not impact the safety of an event the event will proceed.
Equipment
A list of personal equipment each client is expected to carry is provided, if a client is under-prepared this may result in their being refused participation in the event with no refund given. It is mandatory that all participants wear footwear suitable for the walk and prevailing conditions.
Behaviour
Military aircraft crash sites are “Protected Places” as defined by the Protection of Military Remains Act 1986, it is an offence to interfere with or remove any remains without the permission of the Ministry of Defence. We require all clients to treat all the crash sites they visit with the utmost respect.
Dogs
Clients may bring dogs on our walks with prior agreement, if the client brings a dog(s) the client is solely responsible for the dog which must remain under control at all times. On occasion some areas have protection orders in place prohibiting dogs from the area, should this be the case then no dogs will be permitted on that particular occasion.
Media
You give consent for any photographs/videos taken by Walking the Wrecks which may include yourself during an event to be used in publicity material by Walking the Wrecks, such as but not limited to, website, social media or other promotional media.
Insurance and First Aid Cover
All walks are suitably insured within the remit of a Mountain Leader (Summer) to a level not less than £5M for Public Liability and Professional Indemnity. The leader of any walk also holds a current Outdoor First Aid qualification.
